Who is this site for?
- This site is for Studio Musicians, Audio Engineers, Producers, Songwriters/Arrangers, Beat-makers, Recording studios, Venues, and Bands (and their street teams/fans). Also the content is for arists who are looking for qualified folks to play on their tracks.
What does it mean to enroll in "Studio Musicians"?
- Signing up as a Studio Musician means you are actively trying to network within the professional audio community. It is a separate entity from your My Local Music Now stock profile (although it does borrow a couple pieces of information from it).
- Signing up as a Studio Musician also means your musician profile will be embedded in local music websites (recording studios and communities) so that people can find talented musicians & studio staff within their locality (Zip Code)! (Sort of like placing an ad that goes a bunch of places at once) (Note: We do not charge any sites for this feature! If you would like to be a part in the embedding process (which is quite simple) please contact us at Webmaster@MyLocalMusicNow.com
What should I put in my profile?
- List your work history/education, gear you like to use, awards won, any places you regularly gig at, style, influences, samples of your work, ability to read music if able, and name-drops (if that's your style). But it's entirely up to you what you decide to enter!
How do I upload my profile photo?
- Go to the Photo Tab
- Click "Update Pictures"
- Click "Browse" and choose a pretty picture of yourself *Only .Gif, .jpg, and .png are acceptable formats!
- Then click the "Upload Picture Button"
- Once the System thanks you for you photo click "Make Profile Default" in the area right below the photo
How do I upload Music Playlists into my Studio Musician profile?
- Go to the Music Tab
- Click "Browse", and Pick out a song that you think best represents your talents *MP3 Format Only *There is NO size limit!
- Enter a title/description into the given boxes
- Click "Upload Song"
- Go to The Playlist Tab that is directly above the song that you just uploaded
The Idea is to have different playlists for each instrument you play, and skill you have so...
- Type a Name for your playlist into the name box and click "Create Playlist"
- Click into the playlist you've just created and you will see all the songs you've uploaded
- Click "Add" on whichever songs you would like to have in the playlist that represent the talent
- Click the "Studio Musicians" tab
- Select the profile that you would like to add the playlist to and click "Edit Profile"
Note: My Local Music Now Profiles and Studio Musicians Profiles are separate entities. Studio Musicians' profiles will be embedded in recording studios' websites while your My Local Music Now stock profile will stay just with us. - Enter your studio musician bio information if you would like the profile to be a little different than your stock setup.
- Click the "Use Playlist" dropdown and select the playlist you feel is appropriate for this particular Studio Musician Profile.
- Click "Update Profile", and voila! A playlist particular to your skill that will show up only in that profile!
What is the Click to Text Function?
Click to Text is an algorithm we've designed to alert friends, fans, and your street team of upcoming events (or just because you want to say hi). We will soon have band-specific and street team profiles and a "build a tour" feature that will contact the venues for you! So this will be a very helpful resource in the future! How do I contact other users?
1. Login to your profile - Click "Top Profiles in My Area" if you aren't friends yet, or the "Friends" tab if you've already added eachother.
- Go into their profile and click, "Send Message"
2. Click Studio Musicians on the left pane of My Local Music Now if you aren't logged in - Find the person you are looking for by their instrument/ skill
- Go into their profile and click, "Send Message"
How do I set up my band?
- Create a My Local Music Now Profile
- Click the Features Tab
- Click the Band Manager link
- Enroll as Band Manager
- Edit Profile (bio, contact)
- Click Photos on the top menu bar, create an album, and upload a beautiful picture that represnts your band to said folder
- Click Music and upload your bands .MP3 files (there is no size limit!)
- Click Playlists and create a playlist named in a way that you can find it later.. click into that playlist.
- Click Add on each song you would like to put into the playlist
- Click Features--> Band Manager --> Samples, and select the playlist that represnts your bands material
- Click Photos, and select the photo album that reprents your band photos! Voila!
What kind of features are you guys coming up with?
New Profile Types/Features! - Studio Profiles: This will have the studio history, gear list, rates, staff (linking to studio musicians profiles), photos, samples, name-dropping (if you choose to do so), photos, and links! *We will also have crazy-awesome features like FTPing (File Transfer Protocol) from approved profiles so that bands, studios, and musicians can transfer large audio files within our servers! *Auction for creative services: We are in the process of working out an auction-like feature where folks can bid for work and transfer files/funds so musicians can be utilized over great distances!
- Band Profiles: This will be like past social networking sites, but with the added twists of "Build a Tour", an application within the site that lets you plan the cities/dates/guarantees and we contact the venues. The venues then approve or deny and it will automatically plug the date into your tour calendar and the venues' show calendar! (W00t, No More Shady Booking Agents or Promoters!)
- Venue Profiles: A place Where Venues can find bands, and fill their calendars up with our "Build a Tour" feature. Any ideas? Send them our way!
- Classified Section: Got some extra gear? Need a new band member? List it up on our classified section!
